NYT: Should I let my son meet his dying dad?
Mon Jan 18, 2010
I have a grown friend whose father left him and his mother when he was small. No contact for decades. His father called him recently to tell him he was dying and wanted to meet with him. They were all able to reconcile, forgive and grieve the mistakes made by his father.
Should rules for labor inductions be tightened by federal regulators?
Mon Oct 26, 2009
My 1st child was induced at 41.5 weeks. She had no signs of vacating! After giving birth naturally to a 11 pounder, my 2nd was induced at 38 weeks - after comparing ultrasounds from #1 & #2's. My ob/gyn knew we were headed down the same road. #2? 9 pounds even - 2 weeks early.
Pearl Harbor memories still vivid for some
Sun Dec 6, 2009
7 Dec 1941... a date which will live in infamy... May God be with the remaining Survivors, the family members and those who choose to remember 68 years later. RIP Grandpa... thank you for your love, your wisdom and your sacrifice. Kaneohe Klippers, forever. May we never forget.
Will you follow new guidelines on cervical cancer screening?
Fri Nov 20, 2009
I've had a pap every year for as long as I have had an OB/GYN and after JUST having gone through a long year of bad paps, numerous procedures, when I've NEVER had a positive result in my life, that finally lead to a total hysterectomy [age 38, married for 17 years].
NASA starts fueling shuttle for 6th launch try
Wed Jul 15, 2009
Amen. But don't tell them they are rusty... they'll just want to waste more money on building new ones. When does the word "broke" finally hit people in the head? I believe in what they are doing for the sake of science but not at the cost of our pocketbooks.
Zoo staff try to save baby lemur with CPR
Fri Apr 17, 2009
All lemur exhibits have moats around them to keep them in their habitat and since lemurs hate getting wet, they stay away from the water. We had just visited Baby Houdini the week before and my daughter was so upset. The caretakers at the LR Zoo love these animals...
Recession squeezes day care from both sides
Fri Mar 27, 2009
I agree with you guys. I've been a SAHM for 7 years now after leaving a 10 year career. We have a 6 y.o. & a 2 y.o. and financially and mentally it was the best decision my husband and I made.
Warm weather may trigger migraines
Mon Mar 9, 2009
What most do not understand is this 9 degree hike doesn't have to be during the blister of summer. My most severe migraines come during the wild rides of winter... 22 degrees one day, when the weather is fixing to make an upturn, BAM... severe headache and then two days later... 35 degrees outside.
Is it OK for schools to serve cold cheese sandwiches to children who don't have lunch money?
Wed Feb 25, 2009
At my daughters school, all kids are on a computer system. The cafeteria knows ahead, what kids are there that day, whether they brought their lunch or are eating through the line... it's done before lunch is ever served.
Clintons bid farewell to Socks the cat, age 20
Fri Feb 20, 2009
When my grandfather died and my grandmother fell ill, two of my aunts helped take care of my grandmother. One aunt moved in to help full-time and brought her 3 cats. She'd had these cats forever.
